I’ve now swum 704 lengths
I was hoping to be able to say that I’ve finished up to Get Toned session 15 – half the programme. However, although I swam session 15, I found it harder going than I had hoped so I’m going to repeat it.
I found the first two sessions this week pretty easy and enjoyable.
I chose to do back stroke, my third favourite stroke, for the exercises in session 13 when you swim one-armed. That went well and I felt I was getting better. In session 14 I discovered that if I try holding a float between my legs and pulling using back stroke arms only, I feel like I’m drowning. Not a good experience!
I’ve worked hard at learning advanced breathing for front crawl – breathing every three lengths and, therefore, on alternate sides. Hard to form a new habit but I am pleased how that is going.
I learnt how to do “touch turns” where you twist yourself round rather than somersaulting. That makes the swimming harder because you never stop.
The last session of the week was disappointing. It was only 40 lengths so I thought it would be easy – maybe that is my problem. Instead, I had to take an unscheduled break in the middle to get my breath back. Well, I’ll try it again and see if it goes better.
