The boat race

I went to watch the boat race this morning. Not that one – the Australian boat race between the Universities of Sydney and of Melbourne.

Reinstated 150 years after the first meeting between the two university boat clubs, the race alternates between Melbourne and Sydney where it was today.

From my balcony, I managed to see the boats following the women’s race. (Melbourne lengthened their lead in the series to 3 victories to 0!). Then we went to Pyrmont pedestrian bridge.

Between the races it was DE-SERTED!!! Then as the men’s crews drew near, a crowd of at least, well, fifty gathered. So, not as big a deal as THE boat race. But, give it time, I suppose.

Anyway, here is a shot of the crews heading for the finishing line in Cockle Bay. (Sydney won, by the way!)
